Stella’s Story
Every great kitchen has a story. Ours starts with Aunt Stella and ends with a seat saved for you, whoever you are.

A Kitchen Full of Memories
Aunt Stella’s journey began on October 21, 1910, on Manhattan’s vibrant Lower East Side. After high school, she answered a deep calling to the church and became a nun, serving with the Dominican Congregations across Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn — close enough to stay connected to the family she loved.
What I hold closest to my heart from my time with Aunt Stella is her genuine love of cooking and the joy she found in family gatherings. I can still picture her moving gracefully around the kitchen, the aroma of fresh spaghetti sauce simmering on the stove. Those memories became treasures of my childhood — and the inspiration for this restaurant.

The Spirit of Stella's
When I opened Stella’s in 2009, choosing the name was easy. I wanted a place where every guest feels as cherished as family, and where the food tastes like the comfort of home. Who better to represent that than Aunt Stella?
Aunt Stella passed in October 2000, before she could see this dream come true. But her spirit is in every corner of Stella’s. Each time you join us, my promise is to serve you not just good food and good service, but every dish and gesture made with the same love and passion she shared with me.
